How To Reset Your Online Banking Password

Forgetting your online banking password happens! Luckily there is an easy way to reset your password when and if it happens to you!

How do I set up the feature to reset my online banking password?

  • Log onto your online banking and go to the options tab. Within the modify personal settings, enter in your own password reset question and answer, then scroll down to the bottom and click submit.

Why would a bank secure a .BANK domain?

  • Higher level of security than non-financial domains
  • It will help prevent users from being re-directed to fake bank websites

Citizens Bank Minnesota is Green!

When you think of “green” at a bank, you probably automatically think of the government-approved currency kind of “green”.  But at Citizens Bank Minnesota, we care about another type of “green” – Going Green!

We offer online banking with e-Statements, so paper doesn’t have to be wasted by printing a paper statement and mailing it in an envelope.  It is estimated that one household’s annual paper statements from banks would strip 24 square feet of forest each year.  Plus, e-Statements may help avoid identity theft by eliminating paper documents that may expose personal information.  Your unique Login ID and password helps to ensure confidentiality. With e-Statements you may not have to worry about your bank statement falling into the wrong hands through the mail, or by having it in your mailbox.

You can even pay your bills online with our bill payment – saving yourself time and money.  No more buying stamps or licking envelopes.

Citizens Go! Mobile app will save you drive time by allowing you to bank from your smartphone – eliminating a trip to the bank!  You can access your account information, transfer funds, pay bills and more from the app.  And Go! Mobile just got even better with Go! Mobile Deposit.  Now you can deposit checks with your smartphone from the convenience of your own home or anywhere that you have cell service!

Here are a few ways that you can Go Green and save paper:

  • Turn off paper bank statements by signing up for e-Statements.
  • Switch to direct deposit.
  • Start using online banking.
  • Try mobile banking, such as Citizens Go! Mobile app for your smartphone.

Required Password Change

On February 14th at 8am, Citizens Bank Minnesota is enabling mandatory password changes in our NetTeller online banking product.  Passwords will be required to change every 60 days and previous passwords cannot be reused.  We realize that our customers count on us to protect their information and accounts. The benefit of regularly changing a password outweighs the difficulty of changing it. We are available to assist you with any questions this change may bring. Recent data breaches provide the best example demanding timely password changes.  Zappos.com, for example, recently had a database containing 24 million customer records that were stolen.  Several forms of fraud could potentially begin after a breach of such magnitude.  This is an important example on why requiring password changes may help keep you protected.

A few best practices:

  • Change your password NOW in the “Options” menu within your Online Banking account.
  • Fill out the “Password Reset Question and Answer” in the options menu. This is the question that you must answer to automatically reset your own password. Without this filled out you have to contact the bank to reset.
  • Use a stronger password than required. Here is a good password primer from a trusted resource: http://krebsonsecurity.com/password-dos-and-donts/
  • Never use your web browser to save a password. There are computerized password management tools, but Citizens doesn’t endorse a password management tool.
  • Use a different password for online banking than any other website, or at least use a different password than your email, Facebook, or online shopping accounts.
  • Consider the security of the computer you are using to access online banking. Do you own it? Is it infected? Is it on a publicly accessible wireless network? Is it a public computer? Would you be willing to type your most private secret onto the computer?
